Speculation Grows Over KL Rahul’s Possible Move to RCB for IPL 2025
The possibility of Indian cricketer KL Rahul joining Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season has become a talking point among cricket enthusiasts. This speculation arose after RCB teased a potential collaboration on their social media platform.
Recently, RCB shared a post on their X account, featuring a photo of KL Rahul alongside Virat Kohli on a television screen. The image captured the duo during a partnership in a match between India and Bangladesh. Accompanying the post was a caption advising fans not to “smash their TVs” after watching Team India’s performance, adding fuel to the rumors regarding Rahul’s potential involvement with RCB in the upcoming IPL season.
The speculation about Rahul leaving his current team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), intensified following a rumored dispute between him and LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka during the IPL 2024. Although both parties have publicly denied any discord, reports of a strained relationship have persisted. As a result, it is anticipated that Rahul might part ways with LSG before IPL 2025, making him a valuable asset for teams seeking a new player.
If Rahul decides to leave LSG, RCB management, who recently observed the retirement of their wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik from all formats of cricket, is likely to pursue him. RCB would aim to strengthen their squad by employing Rahul as a wicketkeeper-batsman, capitalizing on his previous association with the team. Rahul made his IPL debut with RCB in 2013 and rejoined them in 2016 to play until 2017.
Over his IPL career, KL Rahul has played 132 matches, scoring 4,683 runs at a strike rate of 134.61, including 37 half-centuries and 4 centuries. While with RCB, Rahul played 19 matches, achieving a strike rate of 145.30 and scoring 417 runs, which included four half-centuries.
