Taylor’s Hitting Fix: Tips from Lindor Spark Success

Taylor Baseball Performance Improvements

NEW YORK, NY — Outfielder Taylor has made significant strides at the plate this month, thanks in part to a late-night hitting lesson from teammate Francisco Lindor. After struggling with his batting average earlier in the season, Taylor has rebounded to hit .296 with four doubles, a triple, two RBIs, and two stolen bases in May.

In late April, Taylor’s batting average plummeted to .169, prompting him to seek help from Lindor while in Washington. “Recently, what’s worked for me is fixing my gather,” Taylor shared with the Daily News on Sunday after a game at Citi Field. He explained that the “gather” involves shifting weight to the back foot to improve hitting mechanics.

Lindor, known for his leadership and willingness to assist teammates, suggested a more private environment for their lesson. “I didn’t want him thinking about swing mechanics before a game, so I invited him to my hotel room,” Lindor said. They utilized Lindor’s equipment to work on Taylor’s technique that night.

Since making adjustments to his gather, Taylor has focused on consistency and routine to improve his mental approach at the plate. “I’m trying to expect nothing and be free,” he said. His approach involves waiting for fastballs and capitalizing on pitches in the zone, which has made a noticeable difference. “He’s been aggressive, using the whole field,” Mets manager remarked.

This improvement comes at a crucial time for the Mets, as the team’s top hitters have struggled recently. With significant contributions from the bottom of the lineup, including Taylor and others, the team is putting pressure on opposing pitchers. Lindor humorously noted that despite their intense practice, no hotel property was harmed during their lessons.

As Taylor continues to build on his recent success, he remains focused on enjoying the game and maintaining his improved hitting form.
