Teachers Day Celebrations In Schools

The students of Subbiah Vidyalayam Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Thoothukudi celebrated Teachers’ Day on Thursday with a series of cultural events dedicated to their teachers.

The festivities included singing, poetry recitations, and dance performances, all aimed at honoring the contributions of teachers in shaping young minds. In addition, students organized various competitions, rewarding the winners with prizes.

At St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School in Palayamkottai, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Pa. Moorthy, attended the celebrations. During his address, he emphasized the importance of lifelong reading for both students and teachers. He stated that continuous reading enhances students’ competitive edge and allows teachers to stay updated in their respective fields.

Mr. Moorthy further encouraged students to foster love and brotherhood within and beyond the school environment, citing recent incidents of student altercations that necessitated police intervention.

Additionally, cultural events were presented by both teachers and students at St. Xavier’s College in Palayamkottai. The school honored retiring faculty members K. Sahayaraj, Kalavathi, and David Appadurai with shawls and mementoes in recognition of their contributions.
