Thunder Overpower Warriors with 126-102 Victory in Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder displayed an impressive performance on Tuesday night, defeating the Golden State Warriors 126-102 at the Paycom Center. Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 28 points and 11 assists, as Oklahoma City improved to 5-0 at home and 11-1 overall this season.
Gilgeous-Alexander’s play was complemented by Chet Holmgren, who recorded a perfect shooting night with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Holmgren made all nine of his field goal attempts and contributed significantly to the Thunder’s offensive rhythm. The Thunder maintained control throughout the game, showcasing strong ball movement and defensive pressure.
The Warriors struggled against the Thunder’s defense, particularly in the first half. Stephen Curry, who scored only 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting, found it difficult to get open looks, with the Thunder limiting his effectiveness. Oklahoma City led 63-44 at halftime, following a dominant second quarter where they scored 29 points.
Despite a late push from Golden State, the Thunder’s lead grew to as much as 36 points during the game. Oklahoma City scored 44 points in the third quarter alone, demonstrating their offensive efficiency and defensive prowess.
Golden State’s Draymond Green also struggled, earning a technical foul in the first quarter before finishing with just 6 points. The Warriors fell to 1-6 on the road and have yet to find their rhythm this season.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault praised his team’s execution and teamwork. “They play together. They compete together. They have a system and play to their strengths,” he said.
Next, the Warriors will look to bounce back against another formidable opponent while the Thunder aim to continue their winning streak.
