Tragedy Strikes Gokulpuri Metro Station: One Dead And Four Injured As Slab Collapses

A major accident occurred at the Gokulpuri Metro Station in Delhi, resulting in the collapse of a metro slab. One person has been confirmed dead, while four others have sustained injuries and have been taken to the hospital for treatment. The incident took place around 11 am, and both the police and fire brigade teams reached the spot.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a compensation of INR 15 lakhs for the family of the deceased in the incident of the Gokulpuri Metro Station slab collapse. The DMRC will also conduct an investigation into the causes of the collapse. Two officials involved in the incident have been suspended immediately.

At approximately 11 am on Thursday, a section of the Gokulpuri Metro Station collapsed onto the road. This unfortunate incident resulted in the death of one person and injuries to four individuals. The police authorities are working to identify the injured individuals. The debris is being cleared from the site with the help of JCB and crane machines. Local police and metro employees are present at the scene. Legal action will be taken under the relevant sections pertaining to this incident. Some bikes were also damaged in the accident. A unit of the Gokulpuri DFS remains on standby, as a part of the slab is still hanging.

In response to the incident, the Deputy Commissioner of North Delhi stated that legal action would be taken under the relevant sections, and further investigation is underway. The quality of construction work is also being questioned following this incident, as the Pink Route Metro is one of the new routes.
