Tragic Pedestrian Collision On Wayne Gretzky Drive Leaves One Dead

Edmonton police are currently investigating a heartbreaking incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning on Wayne Gretzky Drive, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The authorities were alerted to the collision at around 12:45 a.m., prompting the dispatch of patrol officers to the scene.

According to the information provided by the police, a Dodge Ram truck was traveling northbound on Wayne Gretzky Drive, approaching the intersection at 118 Avenue when tragedy struck. The truck reportedly ran over a woman who was lying in the middle of the road, just north of the intersection.

Witnesses at the scene immediately sprang into action and attempted to provide first aid to the victim. However, despite their efforts, the 46-year-old woman was declared dead upon the arrival of emergency medical crews.

The adult male driver and male passenger of the truck remained at the scene and reported no injuries. The authorities do not believe that speed or alcohol played a role in the collision. As a result, the Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) has taken over the investigation to determine the cause of this tragic accident.
