PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — Twelve high school seniors from Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) have been named Posse Scholars, earning four-year, full-tuition college scholarships through The Posse Foundation‘s partnerships.
On February 12, 2025, PGCPS Superintendent Millard House II expressed pride in the achievements of the students. “We are proud to see our students join the esteemed Posse network,” he said. “Their dedication, resilience, and academic excellence have paved the way for this opportunity and we look forward to the impact they will make in their communities and beyond.”
Since the inception of the program in 2013, over 70 students from PGCPS have received Posse scholarships, which are designed to support diverse groups of high-achieving students who may not otherwise have access to higher education. The program emphasizes teamwork and leadership skills, preparing scholars for success in college and beyond.
This year’s recipients of the Posse Scholarships will attend various prestigious institutions, including Bucknell University, Lafayette College, Lewis & Clark College, Sewanee: The University of the South, and the University of Rochester. Each of these schools is known for its commitment to diversity and inclusion, aligning with the core values of The Posse Foundation.
The announcement comes as part of an ongoing effort by PGCPS to support and enhance educational opportunities for its students, ensuring they have access to resources that can help them succeed in college and their future careers. As noted by House, the Posse Scholars are expected to leverage their education and experiences to make meaningful contributions to society.
