Uconn Men's Basketball Vs Umass Lowell

HARTFORD, Conn. — The No. 4 UConn men’s basketball team is gearing up for its regular season debut against UMass Lowell on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at PeoplesBank Arena. The game will be broadcast on Peacock, featuring John Fanta and Donny Marshall as commentators.

Friday’s game coincides with Community Day in Hartford, an event designed to celebrate Connecticut’s community spirit and invite fans statewide to join in the festivities.

UConn, boasting a 1-0 record, opened its season with a decisive 79-55 victory over New Haven earlier this week, where the Huskies’ player led the scoring with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The team features a strong lineup, including several players recognized on preseason watch lists for prestigious awards.

Historically, Friday’s matchup will be the third meeting between UConn and UMass Lowell. The teams first met in December 2015, with UConn winning 88-79, and their last encounter resulted in a 97-75 win for the Huskies in 2018.

UMass Lowell, fresh off a season-opening 107-55 win over Rivier, has been ranked fourth in the America East preseason poll and received a first-place vote. River Hawks player Austin Green led his team in the opening game with 21 points and 13 rebounds.

This evening’s tilt promises to be an exciting matchup as UConn looks to build on its early momentum against a competitive UMass Lowell squad. After this game, the Huskies will continue their three-game homestand on Monday against Columbia.
