Ventura High School Locked Down Due to Bomb Threat Investigation

Ventura, California – The Ventura High School campus was placed on lockdown on the afternoon of May 2 as authorities investigated a bomb threat.
Marianne Quiroz, spokesperson for the Ventura Unified School District, informed families and staff that the district was taking “every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of our students” following the reported threat.
The Ventura Police Department was present on campus conducting a thorough search. Quiroz urged parents to stay away from the area while the lockdown was in effect.
The campus is located at 2 N. Catalina St., north of Poli Street in the city’s midtown area.
In a Facebook update around 2:15 p.m., Quiroz stated that there was no new information regarding the situation.
As of 2:20 p.m., the police department’s watch commander was reported to be in the field and unavailable for comment. No further updates were shared as of 3 p.m.
