Golden State Warriors Vs Minnesota Timberwolves Nba Playoff

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Golden State Warriors are preparing for their second-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves without star guard Stephen Curry, who sustained a mild hamstring strain during Game 1 on Tuesday night. The injury occurred in the second quarter, forcing him to leave the game early after scoring 13 points in 13 minutes.

“Every year the playoffs are about adapting, whether it’s a game plan or an injury or a lineup, so we just have to adapt,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “We’ve done this before, and we’re confident we can do this again.” Game 2 is set for Thursday in Minneapolis, with the series then shifting to San Francisco for Games 3 and 4.

Curry’s absence adds uncertainty as the Warriors look to advance. The earliest he could return is Game 5 on May 14. Kerr noted that the team has successfully navigated previous playoff challenges despite injuries, referencing their 9-3 record without Curry in the playoffs during 2016 and 2018.

The Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets in a tough Game 7 to reach the second round. Their approach will be crucial as they face the Timberwolves, who recently eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers in five games. This series showcases key matchups, including Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and Golden State’s Draymond Green, who will be pivotal for their respective teams.

Edwards, who has been a standout for the Timberwolves, expressed the importance of this series. “If I lead Minnesota to a win in this series, I might not have a choice about being the face of the league,” he said.

In the absence of Curry, the Warriors’ strategy will likely center on Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield, as they bolster the team’s offensive efforts. Butler recorded 20 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists in Game 1, highlighting his vital role moving forward.

Despite Curry’s injury, the Warriors remain optimistic about their chances. Kerr emphasized the team’s depth, stating, “Everybody is live. Everybody who comes into the game is looking to make plays.” As the Timberwolves prepare for Game 2, they’ve noted the importance of focusing on the Warriors’ offensive adjustments in Curry’s absence.
