ST. PETERSBURG, FL, USA — The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) announced on Monday that several new doubles teams have qualified for the upcoming WTA Finals in Riyadh. These include the pairs of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe, as well as Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend.

Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini constitute one of the latest additions to the doubles line-up. For Paolini, this marks her debut at the WTA Finals, while Errani has made multiple appearances in past seasons. The Italian duo secured their qualification after winning the China Open in Beijing over the weekend and had a successful season, winning titles at events such as the WTA 500 Upper Austria Ladies Linz and the WTA 1000 Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

Meanwhile, Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe also earned their spot. This will be Dabrowski’s sixth appearance at the WTA Finals, while Routliffe previously made history last season as the first New Zealand qualifier. The team had an impressive run in 2023, winning the WTA 250 Rothesay Open Nottingham and reaching the finals at prestigious tournaments, including Wimbledon and the National Bank Open presented by Rogers.

Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend complete the recent batch of qualifiers. Notably, the duo triumphed at Wimbledon earlier in July, which solidified their spot in the Finals. Townsend will attend the event for the first time, while Siniakova is making her sixth consecutive appearance. Since starting their partnership in May, the Czech-American pair has achieved several milestones, including a quarterfinal run at the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open and a semifinal appearance at the US Open.

The WTA Finals Riyadh will bring together the top eight singles players and doubles teams from the PIF Race to the WTA Finals Leaderboard. Teams will compete in a round-robin format, with the doubles champions earning the WTA Finals Martina Navratilova Trophy.
