WWE Star CM Punk Suffers Torn Triceps, WrestleMania Dreams Crushed
Professional wrestler CM Punk, who recently returned to WWE television after a decade, revealed heartbreaking news on Monday. Punk announced on ‘Raw’ that he had suffered a severe injury to his right triceps, jeopardizing his future in the ring and potentially sidelining him for months.
Appearing on ‘Raw’ with his right arm in a sling, Punk expressed his disappointment, stating, ‘WrestleMania XL, I guess it’s not in the cards. There’s always next year.’ The 45-year-old wrestling star had aspirations of headlining WrestleMania XL in April, which is scheduled to take place in Philadelphia.
Punk disclosed that he tore his right triceps during the Royal Rumble, held in St. Petersburg, Florida. Footage from the event showed Punk holding his arm and discussing with referees during the match. Ultimately, Punk’s rival, Cody Rhodes, eliminated him from the Rumble and secured a championship match at WrestleMania.
This injury poses a significant setback for Punk, who was expected to participate in WrestleMania 40 after his surprise return in November. WWE had been teasing a potential match between Punk and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. However, with his torn triceps, it seems highly unlikely that Punk will be able to compete in the flagship event.
This is not the first time Punk has battled a triceps injury. In September 2022, while wrestling for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), he tore his left triceps, resulting in a nine-month absence from the ring. Earlier incidents also include unscripted backstage altercations in 2022 and 2022, as well as a broken foot in 2022.
Punk’s future in wrestling remains uncertain, as he has not disclosed whether surgery will be required for his latest injury or how long his recovery might take. Nonetheless, his resilience and ability to overcome adversity throughout his career suggest that this setback may not be the end of his journey in the squared circle.
