Defending WBA and IBO light-heavyweight champion, Dmitry Bivol, showcased his supremacy in Riyadh as he secured a dominant sixth-round stoppage triumph over Malik Zinad on Saturday.

The highly anticipated bout marked a significant moment in Bivol’s career as he was originally slated to face unified WBC, WBO, and IBF champion Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed light-heavyweight title. However, a setback due to injury forced Beterbiev to withdraw from the fight.

Following his remarkable victory, Bivol expressed his adaptability and determination, stating that as professional boxers, they must be prepared to change tactics at any moment, emphasizing his readiness for a fresh challenge.

Turki Al-Sheikh, the influential figure of the General Authority for Entertainment in Saudi Arabia, made a pivotal announcement following Bivol’s win, confirming that the bout between Bivol and Beterbiev has been rescheduled for October 12, aligning with the commencement of Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia.

Bivol’s flawless performance saw him extend his undefeated record to 23-0, marking his first stoppage victory since 2018 after a streak of nine consecutive unanimous decision wins.

Bivol’s precision and power were evident from the start as he forced Zinad, a valiant but overmatched opponent, to the canvas with a ferocious left hook in the initial round.

Despite Zinad’s resilience and aggressive approach, Bivol’s superior skills and calculated counters proved too much to handle, with Bivol showcasing his technical prowess and control throughout the fight.

The fight further solidified Bivol’s reputation as a force in the light-heavyweight division, with his victory serving as a statement of intent in preparation for his rescheduled clash with Beterbiev.

In a decisive moment, Bivol showcased his exceptional timing and power, landing a devastating left jab followed by a left hook that left Zinad shaken, prompting the referee, Howard Foster, to intervene and halt the contest, marking Bivol’s emphatic triumph.
