The Toronto Raptors commenced Night Two of the NBA Draft by choosing Jonathan Mogbo out of University of San Francisco with the 31st overall pick. Mogbo, a 6-foot-8 power forward, traversed four different colleges in as many years before declaring for the draft. His journey included stints at junior colleges before playing his final years at Missouri State and San Francisco.

Coming from West Palm Beach, Florida, Mogbo shares a close friendship with Raptors’ forward Scottie Barnes, enhancing team chemistry. His impressive stats in college, boasting averages of 19.5 points, 14.2 rebounds, 5 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per 40 minutes, make him an enticing early second-round pick. His athleticism, playmaking skills, and defensive potential, emphasized by a 7’2 wingspan, augur well for his NBA prospects.

Mogbo’s senior season saw him shoot 63.6% from the field while contributing 14.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. As a forward, he possesses the tools to excel defensively and impact the paint. However, his three-point shooting requires refinement, having not attempted any shots from beyond the arc during his collegiate career.

The selection of Mogbo comes on the heels of a trade that sent Jalen McDaniels to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov, and the 45th pick in the second round of the draft.
