Tampa Bay Lightning Acquire Forward Jake Guentzel from Carolina Hurricanes in Exchange for 2025 Draft Pick

The Tampa Bay Lightning have completed a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes, acquiring forward Jake Guentzel in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick, announced by vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois.

With an impressive track record, Guentzel, a 29-year-old player, showcased his skills playing for both the Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Penguins last season. His stats include 30 goals, 77 points, and a plus-25 rating over 67 games.

Following his acquisition by the Hurricanes on March 8, Guentzel excelled, leading the team in assists and scoring. In just 17 games, he managed to secure 25 points and 17 assists, highlighting his playmaking abilities on the ice.

As a Stanley Cup champion with the Penguins back in 2017, Guentzel brings invaluable experience and success to the Tampa Bay Lightning. In his career spanning 520 regular-season games, he has amassed 227 goals, 491 points, 121 power-play points, and 31 game-winning goals.

This 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward from Omaha, Nebraska was originally drafted by the Penguins in the third round of the 2013 NHL Draft, showcasing his journey from draft day to becoming a key player in the league.
