Dre Greenlaw Suffers Serious Leg Injury Ahead of Upcoming NFL Season

San Francisco, CA – Former 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw has suffered a serious leg injury, according to multiple sources. The injury, described as a torn quadriceps, occurred while Greenlaw was working out.
Sources indicate that this injury could potentially sideline him for a significant part of the upcoming 2025 NFL season. Recovery from a quadriceps tear can take several weeks to several months, especially if surgery is required.
In December 2024, Greenlaw made a strong comeback during Week 14 after an Achilles tear had kept him out for the entirety of the 2024 season. He recorded eight total tackles, including three solo, while playing 30 defensive snaps in that game. However, his performance was limited the following week due to knee and calf soreness, both lingering effects from his Achilles injury.
During the recent NFL free agency period, Greenlaw was a target for the 49ers, as General Manager John Lynch and Coach Kyle Shanahan tried to bring him back to the Bay Area. Ultimately, he signed a three-year deal with the Denver Broncos worth up to $31.5 million.
As of now, the Broncos have not commented on Greenlaw’s injury or its implications for the coming season.
