PING Partners with LIV Golf’s Torque GC in Historic Sponsorship Deal

PHOENIX, Ariz. — PING announced today its partnership with LIV Golf‘s Torque GC team, captained by Joaquín Niemann. This sponsorship, starting April 25-27 at the LIV Golf Mexico City event, marks PING as the second equipment manufacturer to commit to a LIV team, following Callaway‘s earlier partnership.
The Torque GC team includes players Mito Pereira, Sebastián Muñoz, and Carlos Ortiz, all of whom have a history with PING equipment. “All four of the Torque GC team members played PING equipment prior to turning professional and continue to do so today,” said PING President and CEO John K. Solheim. “We look forward to following their successes both as a team and individuals.”
Under this new agreement, all Torque GC players will use PING clubs, wear PING-branded headgear, and carry PING staff bags during competitions. This level of branding represents a significant shift in how equipment manufacturers engage with professional golf, moving from individual endorsements to team-focused sponsorships.
Niemann expressed his gratitude for this partnership, stating, “My first set of PING clubs was one of their junior sets, and I’ve had PING clubs in my bag ever since.” He also highlighted PING’s commitment to product performance.
This partnership could reshape the golf industry dynamic. With Torque GC having achieved four team wins this season and finishing in the top five at 11 of 13 events, PING aims to enhance its visibility and brand recognition through its association with this successful team.
As more manufacturers consider similar arrangements, the partnership may signal a broader trend in golf sponsorships, possibly influencing player recruitment and equipment development tailored to team needs. PING’s commitment to Torque GC might pave the way for a new era in how brands market their products in professional golf.
