Indianapolis 500 Set to Host First Sellout Crowd Since 2016

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 25, 2024, is expected to be a sellout for the first time since 2016. On May 16, officials from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) announced that nearly all reserved seats have been sold.
“A select few tickets remain in the IMS grandstands,” IMS said in a statement, adding that a complete sellout is likely by the end of practice on May 19. General admission tickets will still be available in the IMS infield until race day.
Approximately 350,000 fans are anticipated to attend, making it the largest crowd in decades. This number exceeds the population of every city in Indiana except Indianapolis.
Mark Miles, President and CEO of Penske Entertainment, expressed excitement about the large turnout. “This year, the greatest race on Earth will host one of its biggest and most memorable crowds in many decades,” he stated.
J. Douglas Boles, President of INDYCAR and IMS, also praised the fans, saying, “The very best fans in sports have delivered in historic and fitting fashion for the incredible stars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.”
The last time the Indianapolis 500 experienced a complete sellout was during its 100th anniversary in 2016.
IMS encourages fans to stay updated on ticket availability through their social media channels.
