Chris Martin Rangers Baseball Injury

ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas Rangers reliever Chris Martin exited Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros after just one pitch due to an apparent elbow injury.

The 38-year-old veteran experienced a “popping” sensation in his elbow, a familiar feeling he faced during his time with the Atlanta Braves. Martin opted for caution and left the game immediately.

Manager Bruce Bochy had previously expressed optimism regarding Martin’s health after an MRI revealed no structural damage earlier in the week. Martin had pitched effectively in his last outing, throwing a perfect inning with seven pitches.

This injury comes after a brief return following a three-game absence. Against the Astros, Martin stepped in during the eighth inning to relieve starting pitcher Jack Leiter, who allowed consecutive hits to open the frame.

After Martin’s exit, left-hander Robert Garcia took over but struggled, surrendering a three-run home run to Houston’s Isaac Paredes, and turning a 3-1 game into a 4-3 deficit with two outs in the inning.

The Rangers will need all their high-leverage pitchers as they prepare for upcoming important series against the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees. Martin’s fitness remains a concern as he continues to recover.
