Chicago Cubs Vs Chicago White Sox Game

CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago Cubs defeated the Chicago White Sox 7-3 in Game 2 of the City Series Saturday at Wrigley Field. The victory came as the sun returned after a rainy Friday, but the game’s unpredictable winds continued to challenge players.

White Sox manager Will Venable emphasized the difficulties posed by the wind during pre-game comments. “The wind is going to do different things. It’s really up to the player to figure it out sometimes,” Venable said.

Despite the preparation, the Sox struggled, leading to another loss in the rivalry. The Cubs had a strong performance from shortstop Dansby Swanson, who hit a home run and reached base four times, while pitcher Matthew Boyd struck out eight, marking his 17th consecutive game with three or fewer earned runs allowed.

The Cubs’ second baseman Nico Hoerner commented on the challenging conditions, stating, “Wrigley can play a bunch of different ways. It can be a great run-scoring environment, or not so much.”

During the game, Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong made a highlight catch to rob a hit, while White Sox right fielder Joshua Palacios misjudged a fly ball that landed for a ground-rule double, contributing to the win for the Cubs.

Despite the loss, the White Sox’s pitching staff issued 11 walks, making success difficult against the Cubs. “We’ve got to battle and do everything we can and hope we’re able to make plays,” Venable added.

With this victory, the Cubs improved to 4-1 in their current stretch against teams with losing records, while the Sox fell to 14-32. The City Series is now tied at 74 wins each for both teams.
