Seth Jarvis Seals Series Victory for Hurricanes Against Capitals

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Seth Jarvis scored an empty-net goal on May 15, 2025, securing a 3-1 victory for the Carolina Hurricanes over the Washington Capitals in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference second round. This win allowed Carolina to advance to the conference final for the second time in three seasons.
The Hurricanes took the lead in the opening period with a goal from Jordan Staal at 9:38, assisted by Jordan Martinook. Anthony Beauvillier added another unassisted goal before the end of the first period, making it 2-0.
In the third period, Andrei Svechnikov, who has been a standout for Carolina in the playoffs, scored at 18:01 before Jarvis sealed the game with his empty-net goal at 19:33. “I knew it’s a rush opportunity for us, and I tried to pass it to ‘Walksy’, and he kind of gave it back to me. At that point, I only had a shot,” Svechnikov said about his goal.
Svechnikov leads the Hurricanes with eight playoff goals, showcasing his potential after a regular season that saw him score only 20 times. This performance has been particularly significant for him as he missed the last conference final due to injury.
The Hurricanes will face the winner of the series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers. “I’m super excited we’re going to the next round,” Svechnikov noted postgame, adding that he is looking forward to contributing to his team’s success.
