Fast, Knight, Poulin Named MVP Finalists in Women’s Hockey League

NEW YORK AND TORONTO (May 22, 2025) – The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) announced today that Renata Fast of the Toronto Sceptres, Hilary Knight of the Boston Fleet, and Marie-Philip Poulin of the Montréal Victoire are finalists for the 2025 Billie Jean King MVP award.
This prestigious award is given to the player deemed most valuable to their team during the regular season. Fast stands out as the first defender in PWHL history to be nominated for this accolade, reflecting her impact on the ice.
Fast, 30, played an impressive 739 minutes and 45 seconds in regular season, which led the league. The Burlington, Ontario native recorded six goals and 16 assists, tying her for first in assists among forwards. Fast also excelled defensively, leading the league in both hits and blocked shots.
Hilary Knight, the Fleet’s captain, had a remarkable season with 29 points, tied for the league lead, by scoring 15 goals and providing 14 assists. Knight, 35, from Sun Valley, Idaho, impressed by averaging 22 minutes and 13 seconds of playing time per game, leading all forwards. She had a notable five-game span where she scored seven goals and added four assists, contributing to Boston’s record nine-game point streak.
Marie-Philip Poulin, 34, became the first two-time finalist for the MVP award this season after leading the PWHL with 19 goals and recording seven assists. The Beauceville, Quebec native accounted for 25.7% of her team’s total goals, highlighting her essential role in the Victoire finishing first in the league. She also set a league record with six game-winning goals.
The selection committee evaluated players for multiple PWHL awards after the regular season, and the MVP finalists were determined based on voting points. The winners of all PWHL awards will be disclosed on June 25 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa.
