Arkansas Razorbacks Softball Game

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 3/4 Arkansas Razorbacks lost 9-7 to Ole Miss in the opening game of their Super Regional on Friday at Bogle Park. The Rebels scored nine runs in the first four innings, leaving Arkansas unable to recover.

In a dramatic finish, Arkansas nearly tied the game in the seventh inning. With runners on second and third and two outs, Kailey Wyckoff hit a powerful 2-1 pitch from Ole Miss’ Aliyah Binford. However, the ball was caught against the wall by Ole Miss right fielder Lair Beautue for the final out.

Wyckoff drove in three runs for the Razorbacks, thanks to her three-run home run in the first inning. Karlie Davison led the Hogs’ offense with a 2-for-3 performance that included a double and a solo home run in the fifth, in addition to two runs scored. Courtney Day also contributed with two hits and two runs.

Cam Harrison had an impressive four-inning relief outing for Arkansas, giving up no runs and only one hit. Reis Beuerlein took the loss, bringing his season record to 3-2. Ole Miss saw standout performances from Binford, who homered and scored two runs, and Ashton Lansdell, whose three-runs contributed to their victory.

The game began with Arkansas starting pitcher Robyn Herron. Ole Miss struck first with a homer from Binford, making it 1-0. The Razorbacks responded in the first inning when Wyckoff hit a three-run home run, taking a brief lead of 3-1.

However, in the ensuing innings, Ole Miss regained control. A two-out double by Taylor Roman tied the game 3-3 in the second inning. The Rebels then scored four runs in the third, including a two-run homer from Lansdell, pulling ahead to 7-3.

Arkansas responded with strong efforts but faced challenges, stranding 13 runners on base. The Razorbacks managed to cut the deficit to 9-7, but ultimately fell short.

“What a game,” said Arkansas head coach Courtney Deifel. “I am just so incredibly proud of this team and their fight. They battled until the end.”

The Razorbacks (43-13) will seek redemption against Ole Miss (41-18) at 8 p.m. Saturday in game two of the Super Regional, with their season on the line.
