Nate Diaz Eyeing Return to UFC for McGregor Trilogy

STOCKTON, Calif. — Nate Diaz, a former UFC superstar, is contemplating a return to the Octagon. Diaz, who has not fought since his time in boxing, announced on the HJR Podcast that he has ‘unfinished business’ with rival Conor McGregor.
Diaz, a free agent since 2022, drew attention during his 27-fight run with the UFC. The Stockton fighter made headlines after engaging in notable boxing matches against several opponents, including a rematch with Jorge Masvidal. Despite a recent lull in activity, Diaz expressed eagerness to return to the UFC if the opportunity arises.
“I plan on going back to the UFC,” Diaz stated, adding, “If they have me, I would like to go back and f—– whoop someone’s ass there.” He admitted that the lack of appealing opponents has made his return less likely, but he confirmed that he would consider fighting McGregor again.
<p“Whenever he’s back,” Diaz replied when asked about a potential trilogy fight with McGregor. “Me and him for sure got unfinished business. Got to happen.” Their rivalry, which currently stands at 1-1, has fans eager for a decisive third bout.
Despite his interest in McGregor, Diaz noted that he is not impressed by the current UFC roster. He highlighted the BMF title as “the most entertaining thing” in the promotion right now. Diaz previously fought for the inaugural BMF title against Masvidal in 2019 and has high regard for the belt.
<p“It’s the most entertaining s— there is,” Diaz proclaimed. He also mentioned fighters like Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria as potential opponents, although he emphasized he is done competing in the lightweight division.
As Diaz weighs his options, UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili is also making headlines after a successful title defense set for UFC 316 next month. Dvalishvili continues to build his reputation as one of the promotion’s biggest stars.
