Patriots Center David Andrews Announces Retirement After 10 Seasons

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — David Andrews is set to announce his retirement from the NFL on Monday, June 2, after a distinguished 10-year career with the New England Patriots. The team confirmed the press conference, which will be held at Gillette Stadium at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Andrews, a center and team captain, was released by the Patriots in March. He was an eight-time captain and earned two Super Bowl rings during his tenure. Andrews joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2015 from the University of Georgia. He quickly made his mark by starting 11 games in his rookie season, stepping in for injured center Bryan Stork.
In a statement, Patriots owner Robert Kraft praised Andrews, saying, “David is a true professional, and his impact on this organization will be felt for many years to come.” Andrews battled shoulder injuries last season, limiting him to just four games.
During his career, Andrews played in 124 regular-season games, starting 121, and 12 playoff games, starting 10. He was instrumental in two unforgettable Super Bowl victories: the historic comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI and the 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII.
With his strong leadership, Andrews became a respected figure in the locker room and on the field. He was also voted to the 2010s All-Decade Team at center and was awarded the Ron Burton Community Service Award in 2020. His retirement ends a significant chapter for the Patriots.
Andrews leaves the game with an impressive record and a legacy of dedication and professionalism that will resonate with players and fans alike.
