Nashville SC Ends Orlando City’s Unbeaten Streak in Cup Match

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 21, 2025) – Nashville Soccer Club defeated Orlando City SC 3-2 at Inter&Co Stadium Wednesday night, ending the Lions’ 12-match unbeaten streak and advancing in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
The match began with Orlando taking an early lead, thanks to forward Marco Pašalić’s goal in the 17th minute. Pašalić struck a powerful shot into the top corner after receiving a well-placed pass from defender Alex Freeman.
Nashville responded with a goal of their own just six minutes later. An own goal by Orlando’s Rodrigo Schlegel brought the score to 1-1 in the 23rd minute. Midfielder Matthew Corcoran’s setup to forward Ahmed Qasem then allowed Qasem to score Nashville’s second goal just before halftime.
Orlando found the equalizer in the second half when forward Ramiro Enrique scored in the 58th minute with Pašalić assisting him. However, Nashville’s Wyatt Meyer sealed the victory with a late goal in the 79th minute, marking his first U.S. Open Cup goal.
Nashville’s goalkeeper Brian Schwake recorded his second consecutive victory, establishing himself as the second goalkeeper in club history to win his first two starts. He previously achieved a clean sheet in his debut against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC earlier this month.
This victory extends Nashville’s unbeaten streak to seven matches and sets them up for their next challenge against Toronto FC in Major League Soccer on May 24.
