Baltimore Orioles Vs. St. Louis Cardinals

BALTIMORE, Md. — The Baltimore Orioles‘ game against the St. Louis Cardinals was delayed due to rain on Wednesday evening. The first pitch was originally set for 6:35 p.m. ET at Camden Yards.

At 6:21 p.m., the Orioles announced that the game would begin at 7:05 p.m. ET after a 31-minute delay. This marks the second consecutive day that the tarp has been on the field in Baltimore. Despite the rain, the Orioles played through wet conditions Tuesday night.

The Orioles are currently trying to avoid their sixth series loss this month after splitting the first two games against the Cardinals. Baltimore won the series opener on Monday with a score of 5-2, but lost to St. Louis on Tuesday by a score of 7-4.

Starting for the Orioles is Cade Povich, who pitched five innings of one-run ball in his last start on May 23. Baltimore’s bullpen has struggled recently, allowing 18 runs over the last three innings pitched. Povich has a 3-6 record in games he has started this season.

Facing Povich is Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas, who holds a 4-2 record with a 3.51 ERA this season. Mikolas has been consistent for St. Louis, recording no losses in his last four starts.

Two key players for Baltimore — Adley Rutschman and Cedric Mullins — are returning to the lineup after missing recent games. Rutschman will serve as the designated hitter, while Mullins will play center field.

Fans were initially excited about the weather-themed “Bark in the Park” night, where they could bring their dogs to the game. However, the rain may deter them from bringing their pets out.

As weather conditions remain uncertain, the Orioles hope to play the game tonight, despite the forecast of ongoing rain.
