Kyle Pitts Trade Rumors Heat Up as Falcons Receive Inquiries

Atlanta, GA — The Atlanta Falcons are reportedly receiving trade inquiries about tight end Kyle Pitts, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. In a post on Friday morning, Schultz stated that multiple teams have shown interest in acquiring Pitts, although a trade does not appear to be close to happening.
While the Falcons would prefer to keep the 24-year-old tight end, Schultz noted that it would take at least a Day 2 draft pick to prompt serious negotiations. Pitts is entering the last year of his rookie contract, with a fully guaranteed fifth-year option worth approximately $10.8 million.
Pitts, selected as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, did not participate in the Falcons’ first organized team activities on May 27 due to a foot issue. However, he was present at the team’s facility. Last season, Pitts started 15 of 17 games and recorded 47 receptions for 602 yards and four touchdowns.
Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson stated earlier this month that he expects significant growth from Pitts as he enters his second year in the team’s offensive system. ‘Year 2 of understanding what we’re trying to do offensively… expecting a lot of good things from Kyle,’ Robinson said.
Currently, the Falcons maintain five other tight ends on the roster: Charlie Woerner, Feleipe Franks, Teagan Quitoriano, Nikola Kalinic, and undrafted rookie Joshua Simon. However, Pitts is viewed as the primary passing option among the tight ends.
Despite recent struggles to replicate his impressive rookie season, there remains optimism within the Falcons organization that Pitts can bounce back, especially with Michael Penix Jr. starting as quarterback this season.
Pitts’s absence raises questions about the team’s future plans, particularly regarding how they would manage the tight end position should they choose to trade him. His performance in upcoming games could shape whether he stays with the Falcons beyond 2025.
