Keyshawn Johnson Questions Steelers’ Future with Aaron Rodgers Decision

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — Former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson has expressed concerns about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ future as they await a decision from quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The four-time NFL MVP has been linked to the Steelers in recent free agency conversations, yet he has not provided any assurance that he will join the team.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Rodgers has not given the Steelers a definitive answer about his plans. ‘He has not affirmatively told the Steelers that he’s coming,’ Pelissero mentioned during a recent broadcast.
Rodgers, 41, remains non-committal about his football career. In a statement made this April, he acknowledged the possibility of retirement. ‘I’m open to anything and attached to nothing. Retirement could still be a possibility,’ he said. ‘I have off-the-field stuff that requires my attention and personal commitments that are important to me.’
This offseason, the Steelers are facing critical decisions regarding their roster. Currently, they have three quarterbacks: Skylar Thompson, Will Howard, and another player whose identity was not specified in the report. Last season, the Steelers finished with a 10-7 record, despite their previous starting quarterbacks—Justin Fields and Zach Wilson—departing for other teams.
With voluntary offseason practices underway, it remains uncertain if Rodgers will choose to continue his career with the Steelers or if he has decided to step away from football after 20 seasons. Last year, during his last season, he threw for 3,987 yards, recorded 28 touchdowns, and made 11 interceptions in 17 games.
