Aaron Rodgers Signing With Steelers

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers has signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, confirming a decision that has been in the works for weeks.

The four-time MVP and Super Bowl XLV champion is set to attend the Steelers’ mandatory minicamp next week. Sources revealed the agreement will be finalized shortly before the minicamp starts.

The Steelers were among three teams considered for Rodgers, competing against the New York Jets and another unnamed team. The Jets ultimately decided to pursue other options, allowing Pittsburgh to secure the quarterback.

Rodgers comes to the Steelers after a challenging two-year stint with the Jets, where he struggled significantly. Last season, he posted career lows in games lost (12), yards per attempt (6.7), and passer rating (90.5). In 2024, he finished with 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, becoming the fifth quarterback in NFL history to surpass 500 career touchdown passes.

Rodgers’ performance and leadership will be crucial as the Steelers aim to boost their erratic offense from last season. The team recently secured receiver DK Metcalf with a five-year, $150 million contract, reinforcing their commitment to building a competitive roster in the AFC North.

Despite his accolades, Rodgers’ signing has drawn mixed reactions from fans. Some are wary, noting that since 2017, he has more losing seasons (three) than playoff victories (two). Steelers safety recently commented on social media about the mixed feelings surrounding Rodgers joining the team.

Rodgers previously played for the Green Bay Packers, where he enjoyed a storied career before drifting to the Jets in 2023. Following a challenging first season disrupted by injury, the Jets struggled to find success, finishing with a 5-12 record and extending their playoff drought.

As Pittsburgh prepares for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on Rodgers as he aims to reinvigorate his career and lead the Steelers back to playoff contention.
