Molly Gordon Reflects On Her Rising Stardom and Creative Ambitions

LOS ANGELES, CA — Molly Gordon is embracing the spotlight following her breakout role in the critically acclaimed series The Bear. In a recent interview, she shared her thoughts on the challenges and opportunities that come with heightened visibility.
“I’ve never been in something that people watch,” Gordon said, referring to her following performances in Ramy and Animal Kingdom. She feels that playing the character of Claire Dunlap, a romantic interest in The Bear, has shifted the focus towards her work in ways she hadn’t anticipated.
“This has been kind of controversial to bring a romantic element into the show,” she explained. “It’s been annoying, fascinating, and interesting to be part of something that people have opinions on.” Gordon’s role is set to expand in the upcoming fourth season of The Bear, which will explore the protagonist’s struggle to balance work and life.
Gordon also starred in the upcoming film Oh, Hi!, set to release on July 25. In the movie, she plays a woman who, after a romantic weekend getaway goes awry, decides to hold her boyfriend captive to convince him of her worth. “We wanted to reflect how hard it is to be honest about feelings in modern dating,” she stated.
As she dives deeper into acting and directorial roles, including her solo project Peaked, Gordon remains aware of the challenges facing women in the industry. “Women accounted for just 16 percent of directors on the US’s top-grossing films,” she noted, reflecting on the stark reality of her aspirations.
Raised in a creative household—her father is director Bryan Gordon and her mother is writer Jessie Nelson—Gordon values storytelling and the power it holds. Despite her industry connections, she recognizes the hard work it took to succeed.
With each new project, Gordon is not only raising her profile as an actress but also venturing into directing, aiming to create opportunities for unique stories. “I don’t care about being the lead. I just want to work with people I admire,” she concluded.
