Canadian Wildfire Smoke Metro Detroit

DETROIT, Mich. — An Air Quality Advisory is in effect for all of Southeast Michigan, including Metro Detroit, until noon on Friday. The advisory has been issued because of smoke from wildfires in Canada.

Officials recommend that residents stay indoors with air conditioning running, especially those with respiratory issues. They advise avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, particularly for individuals with heart disease or respiratory conditions like asthma.

Symptoms to watch for include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning sensations in the nose, throat, and eyes. Residents are also urged to minimize activities contributing to air pollution such as outdoor burning and using wood-burning devices.

Weather forecasts for Friday indicate limited sunshine with possible light rain. High temperatures are expected to reach the low to mid-70s, with northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday’s weather looks partly sunny, with highs in the mid-70s and light winds from the north-northeast.
