Jamie Gittens Chelsea Transfer News

London, England – Chelsea Football Club has submitted an official £55 million bid to sign Jamie Gittens, a 20-year-old winger currently with Borussia Dortmund. The proposal includes a seven-year contract for Gittens, who has expressed a strong desire to join Chelsea, where he has long been a target.

Dortmund views Gittens’ potential sale as essential for their summer rebuilding efforts, believing he does not fit the preferred tactical system of head coach Niko Kovac. Gittens has not yet made an appearance for England’s senior national team but hopes this transfer will help him secure a spot in Thomas Tuchel‘s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Last season, Gittens had a breakthrough year, netting 12 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund, including eight in the Bundesliga and four in the UEFA Champions League. His performance has made him a key target for Chelsea, which is already reinforcing its squad after signing Liam Delap from Ipswich for £30 million.

As Chelsea prepares for a busy summer transfer window, they are also looking to offload several surplus players to fund their acquisitions. Notably, Noni Madueke is open to offers, and Jadon Sancho‘s departure from the club has been confirmed.

Gittens began his career at Chelsea’s youth academy before moving to Dortmund in 2020. He is under contract with the German club until 2028, but with Chelsea eager to finalize the deal, negotiations are reportedly ongoing.

With a release clause of approximately £60 million in his current contract, Chelsea hopes to secure Gittens ahead of their upcoming Club World Cup matches starting June 16. The club also expresses interest in other wingers, including Nico Williams and Alejandro Garnacho, as they seek to enhance their attacking options for the new season.
