Boston Red Sox Roster Moves Baseball

BOSTON, Mass. — The Boston Red Sox announced several roster changes on Saturday, affecting their pitching depth. The team has called up right-handed pitcher Robert Stock from Triple-A Worcester, optioned Cooper Criswell to the minors, and placed Josh Winckowski on the 60-Day Injured List due to a right elbow flexor strain.

According to the Red Sox, Stock will wear number 78 upon his return to the active roster. The announcement came as Winckowski has not pitched since May 11, having made five appearances this season with a strong 2.21 ERA.

Winckowski’s season included three starts in Worcester and six games with the Red Sox, where he held a 3.86 ERA. His injury will keep him off the mound for an extended period, placing more pressure on the remaining pitching staff.

Stock’s prior tenure with the Red Sox includes 10 games in 2020, where he registered a 4.73 ERA. Throughout his career, he has played for various teams, including the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, and New York Mets.

The Red Sox will rely on Stock to bolster their pitching options as the team navigates through the remainder of the season without Winckowski.
