The Indiana Pacers secured a crucial 116-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night, bringing them one step closer to their first championship since 2000. Obi Toppin played a pivotal role, showcasing elite athleticism and fearless play.

With under five minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Pacers held a narrow five-point lead. Star guard Tyrese Haliburton drove to the basket and unleashed a shot that bounced off the backboard and rim. Toppin soared above Thunder wing Lu Dort to grab the rebound, extending Indiana’s lead to seven points with a spectacular dunk.

“It’s been a while since we’ve been in the finals and allowed this crowd to witness this,” Toppin said, reflecting on the significance of playing in front of a passionate home crowd. His performance included eight points, six rebounds, and two blocks, helping ignite the energy in Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Toppin’s defensive prowess was equally impressive. He blocked a shot from Thunder forward Jalen Williams moments after his highlight dunk, sending the crowd into a frenzy. The Pacers’ bench played a significant role in the victory, outscoring the Thunder’s reserves 49-18.

Bennedict Mathurin led the bench with a game-high 27 points, while T.J. McConnell contributed with strong defensive plays and a record-setting five steals in the finals. Haliburton also recorded 22 points and 11 assists, maintaining the Pacers’ momentum throughout the game.

Head coach Rick Carlisle lauded his players’ collective effort, emphasizing the team’s ability to shine together rather than relying on individual stars. “It’s not always gonna be the same guys that are stepping up,” Carlisle said. “This is how we gotta do it.”

The victory puts the Pacers one game away from securing their first title since the franchise’s last championship appearance 25 years ago. The atmosphere in the arena was electric, showcasing the city’s excitement for the historic moment.

With Game 4 on the horizon, Indiana aims to take a commanding 3-1 series lead, while the Thunder look to bounce back and even the series. Tipoff is set for shortly after 8:30 p.m. ET.
