Paige Bueckers Scores Career-High 35 in Return for Dallas Wings

Dallas, TX — Paige Bueckers made a triumphant return to the court after missing four games due to a concussion and illness. The rookie sensation scored a career-high 35 points in the Dallas Wings‘ matchup against the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday night, despite the team’s 93-80 loss.
Bueckers demonstrated her shooting prowess by hitting 13 of 19 shots, including five of seven from beyond the arc. She opened the game strong, scoring 22 points in the first half alone, making her first seven shots.
“I mean, I was coming back from a break and I feel like I could have used my voice more, been more disruptive, crashed the glass more,” Bueckers said postgame. “So as I get my wind under me, I’ll be better in those areas.” In addition to her points, she contributed six rebounds and four assists.
Despite Bueckers’ standout performance, the Wings struggled as a team, combining to shoot only 33% from the field. Their record dropped to 1-10 for the season, continuing a challenging campaign.
Her scoring spree also marked a significant achievement, as she became just the fourth rookie in Wings history to record at least 30 points in a single game, joining former player Arike Ogunbowale. Bueckers’ milestone places her in an elite company, as she is now one of only two rookies in WNBA history to achieve at least 35 points and five three-pointers in a game, matching Caitlin Clark‘s feat from last season.
For Phoenix, Satou Sabally led the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Mercury capitalized on Dallas’ weaknesses, sinking 15 three-pointers in contrast to the Wings’ five.
Bueckers’ performance may not have secured a victory, but it certainly showcased her potential and resilience. With continued support from her teammates, she aims to turn Dallas into a competitive force in the league moving forward.
