Dallas Wings Acquire Li Yueru from Seattle Storm for Two Draft Picks

SEATTLE — The Dallas Wings have acquired center Li Yueru from the Seattle Storm, the team announced today. In exchange, the Wings will send a 2026 second-round draft pick and a 2027 third-round draft pick to Seattle.
Yueru, a 6-foot-7 center from China, was originally traded to the Storm on February 1, 2025, in a multi-team trade involving the Los Angeles Sparks and the Las Vegas Aces. This season, she has played in nine games for the Storm, averaging 2.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest.
Despite a challenging season start for the Wings, who currently hold a 1-11 record, Yueru’s addition is expected to strengthen their frontcourt. Yueru expressed her desire for more playing time, stating, “When I only play 3-4 minutes in a game, that’s a bit sad for me.”
Today’s announcement also included the waiving of guard Kaila Charles, who played in 11 games for the Wings this season while averaging 4.9 points.
The Dallas Wings welcomed Yueru with a tweet saying, “Welcome to Dallas, Li!” Yueru is set to join a roster that features players like Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale.
As a member of the Storm, Yueru had notable moments, including setting a career assist record with four assists against Phoenix on May 17. She also successfully hit two three-pointers for the first time in her career during a June 3 game against Dallas.
Looking ahead, Yueru’s integration into the Wings’ lineup could provide much-needed depth as the team faces off against the Golden State Valkyries next.
