Jamey-Lyn Horth Seeks Redemption at UFC Fight Night in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Georgia – Canadian MMA fighter Jamey-Lyn Horth is determined to make a name for herself as she prepares to fight Vanessa Demopoulos at UFC Fight Night on June 14, 2025. The Squamish native aims to bounce back after losing to seasoned contender Miranda Maverick last December, bringing her UFC record to 2-2.
Horth, who secured her UFC contract after just five professional fights, is looking to showcase her skills and gain more experience in the Octagon. ‘I’m here to fight and I’m here to showcase some of the skills that I learned and get better each time,’ she said. ‘I’m still learning. I only have nine pro fights under my belt.’ Horth is anxious to demonstrate her growth and tenacity against Demopoulos.
Horth’s competitive spirit stems from a rich background in sports, including soccer and five consecutive victories in the Squamish Days Loggers Sports’ Chokerman race. Though she did not defend her title last summer, she is set to return to the race this year. ‘Last year I went in the pond,’ she joked. ‘This year I get redemption.’
Despite the pressure from fans and critics, Horth remains focused on her progress. ‘I think any publicity is good publicity… It means you’re in their brain and you’re on their mind,’ she said. Horth acknowledges the challenges she faces, having only fought 1.1 times annually throughout her career, but believes her athleticism and willingness to learn can help her compete at a high level.
Horth has fought in packed arenas, a task that has sharpened her focus and resilience. ‘I’m super fortunate to have that because I know that not a lot of fighters get that opportunity,’ she noted. Her recent win over Ivana Petrovic in Edmonton highlighted the resurgence of Canadian MMA talent, which includes fighters like Jasmine Jasudavicius and Mike Malott.
‘The Canadians that are in the UFC currently are there for a reason and they’re bringing it back,’ Horth said. With aspirations to rise in the flyweight rankings, she is eager to take on more fights as she dreams of making it to the top 15. ‘I can’t even speak for everybody, but I’m keen to get as many fights as often as I can,’ she said. ‘I think that I deserve to get those shots.’
As Horth prepares for her bout against Demopoulos, she is focused on capitalizing on her opportunities and continuing to learn from each fight. The event will be broadcast live from State Farm Arena, with prelims starting at 7 p.m. ET and the main card at 10 p.m. ET.
