Lynx Aim for Commissioner’s Cup Title with Key Game Against Aces

Minnesota, MN – The Minnesota Lynx are one win away from securing a spot in the WNBA’s Commissioner’s Cup title game, as they prepare to face the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday night at Target Center.
Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve downplayed any additional motivation for the game, stating, “That’s a player question.” However, guard Natisha Hiedeman, proudly showcasing her new blond hair, acknowledged the stakes of the match. “You get a trophy,” she said. “We want to win whatever we can win, so we’ll take the championship if we get there.”
The Commissioner’s Cup, introduced to enhance fan engagement, concludes with intraconference matchups that influence both Cup standings and regular-season records. The Lynx lead the Western Conference Cup standings at 4-1, with victories over Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and the Golden State Valkyries. Their sole loss was to Seattle.
Napheesa Collier has been a dominant force for Minnesota, recently delivering impressive performances that keep the Lynx at the top. “The numbers don’t lie,” said teammate Courtney Williams, emphasizing Collier’s consistent contributions. “Our team’s not as good as we are if she doesn’t show up.”
The Aces will be missing star player A'ja Wilson due to concussion protocol, but still boast a formidable roster. Collier, leading the WNBA in scoring at an efficient 53.3%, will be pivotal in the Lynx’s strategy, particularly in pick-and-roll plays.
<p“Moving the ball helps Collier shine,” Reeve noted. As the final Cup game approaches, the Lynx are focused on controlling their destiny for a chance at the $500,000 prize pool and that coveted trophy. “It’s a trophy and it’s ours,” Reeve said. “That’s what competitive people do.”
