LOS ANGELES, CA — Tyler Perry’s psychological thriller “Straw” achieved an impressive 48.9 million views on Netflix last week, marking it the biggest week of any movie release in 2025. The film, which features Taraji P. Henson in a gripping role, continues to capture the attention of audiences around the globe.
Released on June 6, “Straw” saw a staggering 93.3% increase in viewership from its opening week, where it garnered 25.3 million views within three days. This increased popularity has solidified the film’s position at the top of Netflix’s charts, making it not only the most-watched movie of the week but also the highest weekly total for any Netflix release this year.

Meanwhile, other films like “Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster,” which debuted at No. 2 on the English-language movie list with 17.4 million views, offer viewers a glimpse into the tragic Titanic expedition. The documentary highlights CEO Stockton Rush’s ambitions for deep-sea exploration and features interviews with those involved in the ill-fated project.
Alongside these titles, French UFC fighter Ciryl Gane’s action thriller “K.O.” also made waves with 19.4 million views, reaching the top of the foreign-language movie chart. As audiences flock to various genres, it’s clear that Tyler Perry’s work continues to dominate Netflix.
