Dominican Republic Costa Rica Football Matchup 2025

San Diego, California — Marcelo Neveleff, head coach of the Dominican Republic‘s national soccer team, has announced the starting lineup for their crucial second match in the 2025 Gold Cup. The team will face Costa Rica on June 18, looking for their first victory in the tournament.

Neveleff has chosen Xavier Valdez to remain as the goalkeeper, while Noah Dollenmeyer, Joao Urbáez, and Edgar Pujol will act as the primary defenders. The midfield will feature Jimmy Kaparos, Pablo Rosario, Heinz Mörschel, Jean Carlos López, and Edarlyn Reyes. Up front, attackers Dorny Romero and Peter Federico González round out the starting eleven.

This match is particularly important for the Dominican Republic after a narrow 1-0 loss to Mexico in their first game. Despite the defeat, the team showcased resilience, losing only by a two-goal margin. Now, they are determined to secure their first points of the tournament before facing Suriname in their final group stage match on June 22.

Costa Rica, on the other hand, comes off a hard-fought victory against Suriname, winning by a score of 4-2. The Ticos will seek to continue their momentum and capitalize on their strong start in the tournament.

A loss for the Dominican Republic could lead to elimination from the Gold Cup, whereas a win or draw will keep their hopes alive for the next round. The match is set to take place at Snapdragon Stadium at 9 PM local time and will be available for streaming on ViX Premium.
