Chicago, Illinois – The Chicago Bulls are grappling with tough decisions as guard Coby White‘s future becomes uncertain. After a lackluster 2024-25 season, where the team finished 39-43, changes are needed to revive their struggling roster. Missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year has prompted the Bulls to rethink their strategy.

Chicago recently traded guard Zach LaVine to concentrate on developing young talent, including White and fellow guard Josh Giddey. Giddey is entering restricted free agency, and the Bulls are expected to retain him after his thrilling performance last season. Meanwhile, White enjoyed a breakout stretch after the All-Star break, averaging 27.7 points and winning the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month in March.

However, questions loom over White’s future in Chicago. The recently acquired Desmond Bane was traded to the Orlando Magic, raising speculations about whether the Bulls could secure a similar trade return for White. Bulls insider K.C. Johnson emphasized the need for the franchise to consider trading one of either White or Ayo Dosunmu, stating, ‘I think it will be very hard to re-sign both of them after next year.’

Johnson elaborated that Bane’s trade complicates White’s situation, as ‘Bane makes a lot more [than White], so you’re gonna get more back.’ As the Bulls look to rebuild, they face hard decisions ahead that could change the team’s composition.
