Shedeur Sanders Cleveland Browns Quarterback

MEDINA, Ohio — Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders received two speeding citations this month, raising concerns about his driving habits. The first incident occurred on June 5 when Sanders was pulled over by the Ohio State Highway Patrol for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone in Brunswick Hills, Ohio.

According to a Medina Municipal Court record filed on June 6, Sanders did not appear for his arraignment on that citation and now owes $269 in fines and court costs. The Browns organization acknowledged the situation, with team spokesman Peter John-Baptiste stating, “He is taking care of the tickets.”

The latest citation took place early Tuesday morning on June 17 when Strongsville Police stopped Sanders for going 101 mph in a 60 mph zone on Interstate 71. He was driving a Dodge TRX at the time. Sanders has the option to pay a $250 fine or contest the charge in Strongsville Mayor’s Court on July 3.

Sanders, 23, participated in the Browns’ mandatory minicamp last week and has remained in Cleveland for rookie orientation. Drafted in the fifth round out of the University of Colorado, he is currently fourth on the team’s depth chart, behind veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, as well as fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.

This behavior is concerning, especially considering the recent history of Browns players and speeding incidents. In 2022, Browns linebacker Myles Garrett crashed his Porsche while speeding in Medina County. As Sanders continues to compete for a starting role, he faces scrutiny not only on the field but also for his off-the-field choices.
