Turin, Italy – Alberto Costa, the young Portuguese defender for Juventus, has been making headlines in Italy during the Club World Cup. The former Vitória de Guimarães player showcased his talent, earning praise and appearing on the covers of many Italian newspapers this Wednesday.

In an interview with Tuttosport, Costa expressed his admiration for two notable Portuguese players who have donned the iconic black and white of Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo and Dani Alves. ‘I have no doubt about it: Cristiano Ronaldo and Dani Alves. I grew up watching João Cancelo play on television. We have different characteristics, but I can say I’m inspired by him, especially because he helped Juventus win titles,’ Costa shared.

The 21-year-old also shared a dream of his own. Although he doesn’t have Ronaldo’s contact, he hopes to play alongside the football legend for the national team in the future. ‘Unfortunately, I don’t have his number… I hope to play with him in the national team. If I can keep my form at Juventus, I’m sure I’ll get the call-up sooner or later.’

Having joined Juventus in January for 15 million euros, Costa adjusted to life in Turin after initially struggling with the transition. ‘It wasn’t easy at first, but the support from my teammates and the entire Juventus community has always been there. They gave me the strength to keep working. It took me a bit to get used to it, but I knew I would be able to play my cards right eventually,’ he explained.

Since Igor Tudor took over as manager, Costa has noticed a change in his opportunities on the field. ‘I think I’ve had more chances than during my first spell with the black and white jersey. I’ve always worked hard to be ready. The coach has different ideas than Thiago Motta, both defensively and offensively. I’m trying to adapt to his style as much as possible. Now I just need to keep training consistently to help Juventus win titles,’ he added.

Facing Manchester City in the Club World Cup this Thursday, Costa highlighted the team’s strong start, which included two convincing victories. ‘The feeling is very positive. We entered the first two matches well. Manchester City is a great team, but when you wear the black and white, you step on the field to win, no matter who you face. That’s what it takes to win titles,’ he concluded.
