Ian Premer Notre Dame Football Commitment

Great Bend, Kansas — Ian Premer, a standout tight end from Great Bend High School, has committed to the Notre Dame football program for the 2026 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound athlete’s decision marks a significant boost for the Fighting Irish, who have been steadily building their roster. In the weeks leading up to his announcement, Iowa State and Kansas State were among the other schools in contention.

Premer spoke with the Notre Dame coaching staff via FaceTime earlier today to inform them of his choice. Sources close to the program stated that the team is thrilled about this development, as he is ranked as the No. 24 overall player in the nation and the No. 3 tight end according to On3.

This commitment also sizes up with Premer being the highest-ranked tight end signing for Notre Dame since Michael Mayer, who was ranked No. 3 in the country in the class of 2020. Mayer has made significant contributions to the team and was selected in the recent NFL Draft.

During his junior season in 2024, Premer recorded impressive statistics with 30 receptions for 541 yards and eight touchdowns, alongside 27 rushing attempts for 260 yards and two touchdowns. His performance has elevated his status as a multi-sport talent, even earning a basketball scholarship offer from Kansas State.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and tight ends assistant Bivin were instrumental in recruiting Premer. Denbrock praised his coaching style and emphasized the university’s notable history of producing NFL-caliber tight ends.

Premer’s recruitment took off during this cycle especially after a visit to South Bend on March 21. After his trip, Premer expressed admiration for the campus and felt a strong sense of comfort among the players he met.

With Premer’s commitment, Notre Dame now has 22 commitments in its 2026 class, showcasing a solid selection of prospects, including another tight end, Preston Fryzel from Toledo, Ohio. The Irish also secured several other top-tier players in recent weeks and remain optimistic about finalizing their class.

In a significant recruiting effort, Notre Dame is looking to continue its momentum as they approach the upcoming season.
