Carolina Hurricanes Tampa Bay Lightning Exhibition Game

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes kick off their six-game exhibition schedule on Monday night, hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning at Lenovo Center. The game begins at 7:00 p.m. ET and is available for streaming on Hurricanes.com, with local restrictions applying.

The Hurricanes will ice a predominantly young roster for this first preseason match, mixing in a few veterans alongside players primarily from the American Hockey League (AHL). This season’s exhibition series will include games against the Lightning, Nashville Predators, and Florida Panthers, with each team facing off twice.

“No better motivator than Rod Brind’Amour,” the Hurricanes tweeted in reference to their head coach. As anticipation builds for the regular season, which begins on October 9, fans can also look forward to opening night giveaways, including a Strutting Stormy hat.

On the other side, the Lightning will enter the game without key player Nick Paul, who is recovering from surgery to address an upper body injury. General Manager Julien BriseBois confirmed that Paul underwent surgery last Friday, which will keep him out until at least November. Last season, Paul contributed 22 goals and 19 assists over 76 games.

Carolina’s lineup will feature players like Taylor Hall and Logan Stankoven, while the Lightning will also showcase newer talent such as Ethan Czata and Marco Mignosa. Many players are eager to prove themselves for a chance at a spot on the final roster.

The evening promises excitement as fans will witness both teams begin their preparation for the upcoming NHL season. The matchup not only serves as a test for rookies but also allows seasoned players an opportunity to find their rhythm.
