Shanghai Qizhong Forest Sports City Tennis Center Match

Shanghai, China – A female spectator was ejected from the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai on October 1, 2025, after causing a significant disruption during the match. The incident took place at around 4 p.m. at the Shanghai Qizhong Forest Sports City Tennis Center.

The woman, identified as 46-year-old Xie, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses said she shouted continuously, which disrupted the event so severely that officials had to temporarily suspend play.

According to the Minhang branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, local police made several attempts to persuade Xie to stop her disruptive behavior. When these efforts failed, police removed her from the venue, as detailed in a statement posted on their official Weibo account.

Following the incident, authorities imposed administrative penalties on Xie, reminding all spectators of their responsibility to maintain public order during sporting events.

At the time of the disturbance, the center was hosting a men’s singles first-round match featuring Italian player Matteo Berrettini against French player Adrian Mannarino. The Shanghai Observer highlighted the importance of minimizing such disruptions to ensure the smooth progression of events.

The public security officials underscored that they would take serious action against any illegal behavior that disrupts venue order, urging fans to respect the sporting atmosphere during events.
