Mariners Beat Tigers 8-4, Take ALDS Lead
Detroit, Michigan – The Seattle Mariners defeated the Detroit Tigers 8-4 on Tuesday, taking a 2-1 lead in the American League Division Series (ALDS). The Mariners now stand just one win away from advancing to the AL Championship Series for the first time since 2001.
Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert shined in the contest, going six innings without issuing a walk and recording seven strikeouts. He allowed only four hits and one run, which came in the fifth inning after a series of base hits by the Tigers.
Seattle’s offense supported Gilbert early, scoring two runs in the third inning. Eugenio Suárez and J.P. Crawford hit solo home runs in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively, generating additional momentum for the Mariners.
Cal Raleigh, the MLB home run leader, capped off the scoring for Seattle with a two-run homer in the ninth inning, extending the lead to 8-1. Mariners fans were treated to a highlight moment when one supporter caught the ball and wore a shirt advertising “Dump Here.” This playful nod to the milestone added excitement for the crowd.
Despite falling behind, Detroit attempted a rally in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three runs before Mariners closer Andrés Muñoz secured the final outs, ensuring the Mariners exited with the victory.
The Tigers are set to start pitcher Casey Mize in Game 4, facing elimination. The Mariners will counter with Bryce Miller, aiming to clinch the series and advance in the playoffs.
