Deadline Extended for AT&T Data Breach Claims

New York, NY — Customers affected by two significant data breaches at AT&T now have until December 18 to file their claims. The breaches were first reported in March 2024, with AT&T acknowledging that sensitive information, including addresses, Social Security numbers, and account passcodes, were compromised dating back to 2019.
In an even larger breach that occurred between May 2022 and January 2023, call logs and text messages of customers were also exposed. In June, a court ruled that AT&T would allocate $177 million to affected account holders who had accounts between 2019 and 2024.
Customers are classified into two groups for the settlements: those affected by the March 2024 breach will receive a share of $149 million, while those impacted by the communications breach will split $28 million. Payments for direct financial losses, which can reach up to $5,000 for the first group and $2,500 for the second, are prioritized before distributing the remainder to all class members.
AT&T indicated that all eligible customers should have received a settlement notice with a Class Member ID or will do so by October 17. To opt out or contest one’s classification in the settlement, requests must be mailed by November 17.
To file a claim, customers must have their Class Member ID and provide either an AT&T account number, email address, or full name, along with payment information for distribution via direct deposit or check. The different settlement classes each have specific eligibility requirements.
For additional inquiries, affected customers can contact the settlement hotline at (833) 890-4930.
