New Delhi, India – Yashasvi Jaiswal dazzled with a sublime 173 not out as India took control on the first day of the second and final Test against the West Indies at Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 10, 2025.

After winning the toss, India started strong, reaching 318 for 2 by stumps. Jaiswal’s innings featured a solid opening partnership of 58 runs with KL Rahul, who was dismissed earlier in the day.

Jaiswal then formed a massive 193-run alliance with B Sai Sudharsan, who scored 87, marking his first Test fifty on Indian soil. Initially cautious, Jaiswal shifted gears post-lunch, bringing up his century with aggression and skill.

Despite a dip in scoring toward the end of the day, India remained firmly in control with Jaiswal’s remarkable form on display. This innings marked his fifth instance of scoring over 150 runs in his young Test career, as he looked set for more runs in the days ahead.

The action in the final session included a superb cover drive by Jaiswal, infusing energy into the innings. Sudharsan’s innings ended when he was trapped lbw by Jomel Warrican, prompting a failed review.

Jaiswal’s continuing brilliance led him to his fifth 150-plus score, celebrated with applause from teammates and fans alike. As India faced the new ball, Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill, who was unbeaten on 20, remained composed, combining caution with occasional power-hitting.

The day wrapped up with India in a strong position, leaving fans eagerly anticipating Day 2 of the Test match.
